I had a 5.7 hemi before this truck. I think this one is a little quicker. It doesn't sound as good but the performance is fine. No clue about longevity but I haven't had any problems with the truck in 4 years.

I use the bed of my truck a lot but I don't tow that much.

I drive a 2015 1500.

Driving around town and to work I can get 20 miles to the gallon. Love this truck.

I put about 110k on an 09 Ram 1500 with the 5.7. I think I got around 17/21 as far as mileage goes but they may have improved since then. No issues with the engine in the 8 or so years I owned it.

I wanted a blue F150 3.5 eco, but when in the market in 2017 I didn’t trust the engine reliability. Now I would trust it. Love the Tundra but I need to go faster for some reason.

The earlier engines seemed to have their fair amount of issues with the timing chain but I don't think that's really the case anymore. I read the F150 forums occasionally and there are plenty of people with 150-200k on the current model with no problems.

The 3.5 will scoot. That's what my dad has.

I wouldn't have any hesitation buying a truck from any of the 3 US manufacturers. They all make a decent truck now although I wouldn't bet on any of them outlasting a Toyota. I don't put 200k on mine anyway so it's never been a problem for me.

If you’re considering keeping it long term another cost factor is the recommendation from Ram to run 89. And yes, they do run better on 89 than 87. There are some videos out there that actually measured the knocking.
I have run both and cannot tell the difference.

I've got a 2016 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. Really like the truck. It's got a lot of power. Only negative, not very good gas mileage. I average around 12-13 mpg in the city. Fortunately, I only live 4 miles from work.

12-13 mpg

That bad? Damn. My Tundra which is known as a guzzler gets 14-15.

I bet that single cab short bed hauls arse with that hemi though.

I have a 2019 ram 1500 classic crew cab 4x4.. 5.7 Hemi with 3.21 gears. I love the 8 speed. Shifts easy and smooth.

55 or less I get 22 mpg
55-65 I get 17-18
Above 65 about 14-15

City depends but less than 14

I do have a pedal commander and muffler delete so that does factor into poor gas mileage unless on a long trip

Stock for stock. Yes.

Retune both and the 2.7 will grenade before it can keep up.

And that's from someone who thinks the 2.7 is the coolest engine to enter mass production in a looooong time.

The 2.5 Broncos will put me in a ford product for the first time in nearly 23 years.

Oh for sure. Toyota even used to offer superchargers with warranty. Would be fun.

It’s about the same for me. About 17mpg for both. Of course diesel costs more and you have to put def also.
