I read the entire thread. Thanks for summarizing it for yourself. Treble sounded like an idiot. Everyone knew that. I'm saying I was surprised he called him. Not sure what qualifies that as a 'dumbass post.'

your right but I think people who have never used a guide, or don't have alot of offshore experience, might think they were getting ripped off because they didn't catch tuna. I wonder how many newbs go out there thinking you should just automatically catch tuna, then feel that way if they dont. However I don't think treble thought it would have gone this far, and posting what he did was unfair.

If I was a business owner and someone was ripping my business for something that was baseless you're damn certain I would call that person.

I've never fished offshore, but if we go out on this trip and don't catch a tuna I won't blame the captain unless I don't think he really put everything into fishing. I've fished with inshore guides from time to time and have great trips and others that were so-so. If you have ever fished at all you need to realize there are a ton of factors that effect success on any given trip and that the captain can't always control when or if the fish bite. If you go out there expecting to limit out everytime you will come back severely disappointed more times than not.

Thats the key right there. its one thing to work your arse off and try to find some fish, its another to sit in one spot until the time is up. This guide did his job and well

Good God I just read the Ruth Chris thread started by treble, in my previous post I thought he was just a newb at offshore but he seems to be a real whiner, frick

I went on a trip like this in St. Lucia, it was arranged by the resort I stayed at and could tell they could give a shite about actually catching fish. I was absolutely furious, and when I went to Costa Rica a couple years later I did my own research and ended up just chartering a whole boat out myself so I wouldn't have that issue again.
