Thanks for all the advice. I've got a lot to think about now. My cameras don't have geotagging or anything of that nature, but the location is pretty easily identified. I've already moved a few cameras around and hid them the best I could. I'm going to keep collecting evidence and probably seek some professional legal advice.

Like I said earlier the biggest thing is filling out a report with the sheriffs office to document each occurrence. It's a pain, but I watched the guys next door do it every time on a repeat trespasser. He finally got the hint and stopped, then a few months later the court system caught up and he was sentenced to months in jail.

IANAL. Contact AlxTger for that.

But it's been my understanding that, short of frivolous lawsuits, anybody can sue anybody for just about anything.

Just saying that I agree that people should keep intruders off their property.

There is an enormous amount of law on this because it is a common occurrence. All kinds of things are taken into account, including whether or not the owner knew or should have known about the trespassers, age of trespassers, attractive nuisances on your property like swimming pools, etc. It is not as simple as you would think.

If you don't have a fence or lock on your pool and you have seen the neighbor's young kid screwing around in your yard, don't be surprised when the parents sue you after he drowns.
