The original 1911 - Colt Gov't Model - is the only one to get.

I am seriously contemplating a Dan Wessen Heritage 45 that looks very similar to that Volkman.

Has the carbon coloration on the lower and the slide some engraving. Thing is, im torn on the ornate nature of it.

For a $2400 piece its pretty......I know. I know. Its not a Volkman.

Maybe a few decades ago but I'd would (and did) buy a Springfield Mil-spec over a Colt Classic. There was nothing the Colt had going for it other than the name. In fact, given their recent history I'd say it would now be a detriment, definitely not worth an extra $200.

Maybe so. Not bad grouping at 20-25 yards with my 20+ yr old Colt 1911, one mag.

25 yds? that grouping? Damn son, do you shoot competitive? I can group like that, but its more like 10 yards not 25

I have a Delta Elite and replaced the grip safety and the plastic mainspring housing y-day.

Looks and feels a lot better now.

Haha. No man, have just been shooting for a long time. Have had that gun almost 30 years. That was done last year. Hell, I’m better with it than my SW M&P 9

I loved my Kimber 1911. It was a good shooter and felt very nice in the hand. I was pretty accurate with it, too. But it jammed too much for me to rely on it, so I traded it. Good luck with yours.

So far, I’m jam free. Smooth as silk.

My buddy has an older model Mil Colt that he had hot rodded by Otto-Comp here in town. Looks like crap, but with the ported barrel & trigger job is a pretty sweet rig. With the less than 3# trigger is hard for me to get use to. I usually end up double tapping with it a few times. That's on me.
