Pull Behind Sprayer Pump

I just came across a 15 gallon sprayer on a trailer used. The pump no longer works and it looks like it was a 1 gpm pump. I am wanting to put another pump on and use it to spray the yard behind my mower. Is 1 gpm good enough or shoudl I upgrade to 2 gpm? Also want to make a spray boom, anyone built one?

Easiest thing in the world to build if you can weld.
Or you can pick up a boomless nozzle. They work pretty well

Hadn’t thought of that but yea that would be super easy.
I used a boomless spray tip for years until I built a boom this year. They work fine but I got tired of catching a face full of atrazine every time I turned into the wind

I'm looking around for home made boom plans but not sure on what nozzles to use.

Nozzles will have a chart that will tell you how many gallons of solution per acre they put out at a certain psi and speed combo. It’s pretty simple. You will want to do at least 10 gal of solution per acre to get proper coverage. Nozzles should be 20” apart for most charts. Make sure to use a large enough hose to carry full pressure to the tips for uniform work.
