Its that time of year. I planted native rice seed late last month in the cow ponds I frequent for wood duck hunting. Still need to work on blinds...

Starting to think about stand placement for bow season to assure good natural vegetation growth to help conceal stands. I'm hoping to get a recurve kill this season. Only season 2 of trying to hunt with a recurve bow. Season 1 was a sweaty sweaty mess but I'm trying again this year.

What are you guys doing for Pregame hunting season?

Bush hogging, Shooting guns, drinking a few brewskys and bullshitting about the upcoming season. Check a deer camera now and then and lie to all my buddies about what's at my stand if I can get a good buck pic from somebody else.

Stressing about how much prep work I haven’t done while being jealous that people in the Midwest can plant food plots in August.

The weather sucked arse last year. Trying to hunt WMAs without food plots when it’s hot and you’ve got no way to get animals moving...

Here’s hoping for actual cold weather.

Building bigger boxes to accommodate kids, going to check out a new spot with a best bud and try to start setting it up, bought a .243 for my son to harvest his first deer if he decides to "go for it" this year.

Building new deer stands for kids, pointing out how crappy of a job way South is doing with his carpentry skills on said deer stands. Likely cursing myself for being at the deer club this weekend in August but excited as hell to get out there now that the water is finally off the lower part of it.

Shooting more and keeping the kids shooting in case they want to do more than just pull the trigger this year.

This confused me, "trying to hunt WMA without food plots" "no way to get them animals moving". Just fyi deer move almost constantly and only layup for short periods of time. I hope you don't think they are laying in a thicket and not moving for 6 to 10 hours at a time. That just don't happen short of severe weather. You gotta get where they are not where you want them to be. lol

All roads and plots are bushhogged, stands are moved and lanes cleared just waiting on oct to disc and plant. Shooting my bow, practicing on my power drinking and roux making.
