OB baws & bawettes.

Looking to keep it under a $1000

Seems like gasoline would be harder to find in black-out and propane would be more readily available.

I have been looking at a combo, gas/propane.

What says the OB?

I will hang up and listen.

I would. We travelled to Wiggens Ms for gas during Ida.

My propane convert kit is enroute. We have a big tank out in the yard. Just did a tune up & oil change.
Tree Tech coming to get a big pine tree Tuesday. Close to house and leaning my way.

Before I did a whole house I used gas. I always filled multiple cans ahead of time and was able to buy gas when I needed it after running a while. The rest would go into my truck, rinse and repeat. I had 8 5 gallon cans around when I went that route. I ran my 2 fridges and deep freeze every couple of hours during the day and all 3 if them and a window unit all night.

Combo or a trifuel that runs off or nat-gas propane and pump gas. Sitting in line waiting for gas sucks, Propane bottles will store without going bad just keep in mind you downgrade KWs when running on propane and even more on nat gas.
I have a firman I bought last year and can tie it into my nat gas the Dow rating is worth the convenience, ran it for 9-10 days for several hours a day running a window unit and keeping fridge and freezers cold and only spent about 70$ more than my normal gas bill.

I ordered this one right before Ida, but didn’t get here till a month after the storm so can’t give a real honest evaluation yet.

Used my ole Craftsman Storm Responder for our Ida outage.

It’s dual fuel and I have it setup to run my whole house with an interlock kit, I’ve done a trial run and it runs my house including central HVAC unit.

I have the 5k verison of this one. Its okay. Did fine for 14 days during Ida, but not exactly fuel efficient. I crank mine up every 2 months just to make sure no issues, and today it looks like I have a carb issue. I'll take it apart this week and clean it and hope for the best.

About $1300, but after Ida I purchased a Champion tri-fuel. Will hook it to my home's natural gas supply, but nice to have the propane or gasoline options as backup.

I have combo with a kit. I keep a 100lb cylinder full of propane along with the 4 tanks I have for my pits and boilers that are always at least 3 of them full. I hope to never have to refill that 100lb tank so I start on gas.

Dual fuel or even tri fuel inverter that you can parallel for added power and more reliability due to having two. Check out the WEN DF400i on sale Amazon for $659 or similar ones to it

Have a couple of their smaller inverters. Have been absolutely bulletproof. Definitely recommend.

Did you have a plumber tie into natural gas line or did you do it?

This is the route I have been looking at. I like the fact a combo generator gives me a couple of different options.

As usual, you guys rock.

Thanks

I connected mine to my nat gas, cut in a T at the meter installed a block valve then ran 50ft of pex tubing and installed a block valve so I can isolate at the generator when swapping to gas or propane.

OK, someone was telling me about a solar powered generator.

Is this really worth it? Thanks again.
