Does anyone have any experience, thoughts, reviews about the Polaris Ranger EV (battery) UTV? reliability, etc...? I have an old Rhino(10 years old) which works, but is loud, starting to wear out, etc... Is there another battery operated utv that you would look at? - thanks for any input

I test-drove one last year. It’s a golf cart. Don’t fall for the looks. It’s also incredibly heavy at 1700+ pounds, 200 more than the 3-seater Polaris 1000 XP. I got a Honda Pioneer instead, which is gas-powered of course but MUCH quieter than my old Yamaha Rhino knockoff.

I know of 2 units that Polaris couldn't repair (under warranty), now they did replace them with new units at N/C. I think (just my opinion) they use chinese controllers and that is where the problems were with those.

I'm not a Polaris hater as that is all I've had since 1990, still running 2 Polaris's right now.

Depends on use but if you are around water, don’t buy one.

I have one for 6 years now. Its not a golf cart. It's extremely powerful for an electric cart in low gear. Replaced the batteries 2 years ago and had to replace the motor in year 4. Buy the extended warranty, the motor would have cost 3,500.00. On flat ground in Max range, you can drive all day. It does have a lot of rattles and creaks but I'm told that is inherent of all Rangers, you only hear them in the cart. You just dont hear them on the gas models. Keep the grease fittings greased and it helps.

Have you been around any newer UTVs?
Surely being gas they still make noise but they are far more quiet than older machines like yours.

I can't stress that enough on anything electric or anything with a ton of emissions

You can hear them in gas/diesel models too. I run a diesel ranger. It’s low end torque is awesome in a flooded corn field, but it’s loud and rattles like a gravel truck.
