Lets hope it works this time. Beyond time for LA to do something.

Good. Natural resources are the strength of Louisiana and it's high time we start protecting them.

Absolutely insulting what those boats are doing to our ecosystems and to us.

They need to follow what the Atlantic states did last year. 3 miles from the coast and a decrease in quotas of 10%

I assure you there are some rotten cock suckers in this state that have gotten rich off letting these boats tape the coastline.

Well now you know what really has caused the reduction in the number of trout. Omega protein is well known in mississippi. Those are the mfers that used purse seine nets for redfish which led to the federal redfish ban. Nothing but ducking outlaws. When it comes up and they show that video, that’s a omega pogy boat.

You can’t have great recreational fishing and these guys too. You have to choose, it’s that simple

Thats always been LA's problem. They want the $$$ from the commercial guys. Like said above, its a guarantee someone somewhere in this state has made millions because of "louisiana politics"

In Miss they are only supposed to operate beyond the barrier islands. But during the summer months you can clearly see them only a couple miles off the beach. Everybody can see them but nobody stops them.

They are part of the problem, but certainly not the main issue. I would rank causes for decline in inshore/nearshore fishery like this
1. Habitat loss
2. Pollution
3. Commercial fishing (including pogy boats)
4. Recreational fishing

One of these is not like the others.

Why is that?

Apathetic voters are partly to blame.

Louisiana's "pay to play" political system is the real answer.

One of the most disappointing, intractable issues facing us sports fisherman, and sad that so many of our so called political leaders in BR and the LDWF commission members defend.

Kudos to Rep Joesph Oregon from Larose for championing a bill to restrict this abhorrent practice.

Hopefully, someday it is completely banned before they harm the recreational fishery to a dangerous level. It's simply infuriating for anyone that cares about the future health of our speckled trout and redfish populations.
