Please School Me on Duck Decoys

Im looking to buy 3-5 dozen decoys for next duck season. I was told now is the time to look due to after season sales.
Please provide me with you opinions on brands, rigging styles, storage, etc...
I will be getting mostly teal and spoonie decoys, with a few mallards thrown into the mix. We hunt a flooded rice field, so we use floaters.
From what i hear, the game winner (academy brand) is shite, due to being to brittle. Is flambeau still the "go-to" cheap brand?
I will be putting these out on saturday mornings, and picking up after the sunday morning hunt most of the time. Is texas rigging the way to go?

As little as possible

You'll pay for them but avian x has been very good to me. Others like Dakotas get high marks but I don't know how well they hold up.

IMO the new 'carvers edge' or whatever they call the new ones from academy are way better than the old and actually as good or better than flambeau. Still not like the top quality brands but plenty good to get started.

I was told to get mostly the types that we kill, which are teal and spoonies. Ill get a few mallards just to mix it up a bit, and maybe some grey ducks or blackjacks.

In a rice field, I'd go for quantity over quality. Just my opinion.

Look on craigslist. Lots of people are unloading gear just after the season.
As previously mentioned, the regular game winner decoys are garbage but the "carver's edge series" game winner decoys are good for the money. Also peruse rogers, midway, and sierratradingpost.com for discount decoys.

I got buddies who prefer a spoonie over anything other than a teal for eating. My ole lady's father frickin loves a spoonie. I find they are very close to a teal. And ill be honest, after this season, beggers cant be choosers.

2 liter coke bottles painted black with a spec or two of white. Just put out approximately 1.6 million of them.

Spoonbills, bluewing and cinnamon teal are all VERY closely related and members of the blue-winged duck family. Hence, they all have large blue patches on their wings.
Green wing teal are really the only "true" teal in North America and not very closely related to the bw or cinnamons but do have teal relatives in south america.

High quality mallards are waaay more expensive than teal decoys, but you're probably seeing the "hot buy" mallards which often times are less expensive than the teal since the teal decoys aren't mass produced on the scale the mallards are.

I imagine it's because the demand is a lot higher for mallards and they make a lot more. Still you would think a teal being half the material of a mallard would balance it out. Dunno
