My 17 HMR has gone off twice on me when I flipped the safety off. Both times were after I let someone else use the rifle to shoot a squirrel and they were not able to get a shot. They handed the gun back to me and when I went to shoot it fired when I took the safety off.
I don't know what the hell they did. I have never had it happen when I was the only one handling the gun. It has a factory adjustable trigger that is set to as light as it can go, 2 pounds. The rifle is 10 years old now and has 1000 rounds through it easy. The incidents were about 4 years apart. All tries to recreate the misfire have failed. I don't know what the hell they did when they were holding it. I don't let anyone use it anymore. As soon as I can get my hands on a CZ 17HM2 it is going to get wrapped around a tree so no one can ever use it.

I know of a few folks who have 700's on the recall list and never did squat about it.

My wife's went off when she flipped safety to fire when sighting in. I was standing right beside her. It's for real.

The trigger in a 700 is easy to replace and there are too many much better options in the market.
2 pins. That’s it.
