Pike County Mississippi Deer

I have read a few threads about some of y’all hunting in southwest Mississippi. A small group of relatives and friends(6 total) just pickup up a little over 500 acres in pike county this summer. Been hunting the area my whole life since my grandparents have 50 acres on 48. Wanted to see who was hunting in that area? Who’s in the area? Not new to the td but finally set up an account. ~Ryan

I live and hunt in Amite county between Liberty and McComb.

I hunt a couple miles west of Liberty. Good deer around those parts but nothing world class (at least not on me)

In lincoln county not far from Summit, we have a bunch of 2.5 yr old 8 pts... never saw any deer that got older than that

My biggest deer killed on our farm in 15ish years (the one on the right) This was 2014...most the rest are good 8’s or smaller
The one on the left I killed in 2003 about 200 yards from the other one

Related note, my office is now a baby room. The deer heads are in my shed at home or at the farm
:(

We have some really good deer on camera. Couple 8 and 10 points. Our land borders about 200 acres of planted soybeans.
I know there are some clubs from LA are In close proximity. Live on the north shore in Slidell.

My aunt sold her land in Pike near McComb, because she was getting too old to take care of the place, but I grew up hunting there as a kid. Good amount of deer and good sized ones were always around

Grandma owns 50 acres close to the fire tower. Mom and dad live close to the 5 corner store. Been in the area my whole life. We have wanted this land for a long while and it finally came available.

Lease or own? Gotta place to stay on it? 500 acres is a good bit, I’m jealous. My dad runs cattle in about 150 but I’m the only one in my family who hunts which is nice

Long term lease. We have a campsite we set up this summer with power, water and septic.
We have plans this off season for a cabin.

What part of pike are you in?
I’m about 15 miles west of Mccomb and hunt a mix of pine plantation/hardwood creek bottom.
We have been seeing deer in the evening primarily. What part of Pike are you in? Regardless lock your stuff up.
I can give you recommendations on people/suppliers to use when you decide to start your cabin. My dad and I did the same thing on our place.

South of 98 and east of 93.
Is your cabin multi room or single room?

Ok...you are east of town.
The cabin is 2 bedrooms with a loft. The wood on the inside was poplar and cedar that came from our place after Katrina.
We lived in it for 2 years after my dad passed while we built our permanent home. I sold it and 2 acres year before last but still own the property around it.
