Picking up a new boat this weekend - Question

Do I have to take my boat to Baton Rouge to be inspected? This is a brand new boat so I was wondering about the boat itself. I know that the trailer needs to be inspected but I cant find anything about the boat itself.
This process seems to be more complicated than it needs to be.

Are you buying from a dealer or is it custom made?

there is no inspection process on a boat...only on the trailer...
the sticker on a boat is actually a registration sticker and comes from the wildlife and fisheries....
the sticker on the trailer is a safety inspection sticker and comes from anywhere that does that...

Covering National Safe Boating Week, Sunday’s Advocate Outdoors story listed a item about the need for boat-trailer inspections.
A correction is needed: House Bill 347 from the 2014 State Legislature turned into Act 235 which exempts boat trailers from state inspections.
So, Louisiana boaters, you don’t have to worry about inspections stickers for your boat trailer.
Thanks to the handful of outdoorsmen who noted the change, and Advocate Outdoors regrets the error.
Commercial trailers were not included in the exemption, nor does Act 235 exempt trailer owners from liability from damage caused by their trailers.

. The dealer will handle everything. You just pay the registration fee there. Few weeks later your sticker and boat reg. will come in the mail from the LDWF. All you have to do is get your own stickers for your numbers on our boat. Same thing with your trailer the license plate and reg. will come in the mail.

Okay to be clear
1. I don't need a trailer sticker anymore?
2. I don't have to go to Baton Rouge LDWF to get my number, but I need to buy the "number stickers"

No trailer sticker. The dealer will also give you the paperwork needed to keep you legal until your boat registration comes in the mail in which you will then need to buy registration numbers/letters which you will find on the LDWF Registration. Make sure to install year sticker and lettering/numbers as dictated on the registration.

Boat trailer: You will get a License plate and your registration papers for the trailer. You don't need to get a inspection sticker.
Boat: You will get a registration sticker from LWLF for the sides of the boat, you will have to get numbers.

I have a buddy that bought a used boat a couple weeks ago and he brought it by to get it registered and the agent told him that single axle boat trailers are exempt from inspection but anything over a single axle still had to be inspected. I thought all boat trailers were expempt but that's not what he was told
