Not that I would want it to match my truck....but can you paint these things white so they won't get hot?

If so:

Can you recommend a paint?

Also, while we are at it; can you recommend another larger 21 cubic foot roof box?

Thanks.

I've heard of wrapping. I'd look it up, but I'd rather hear it from you. Where do you get it?

White 2008 Pathfinder, but these thule/Yakima boxes get so hot during the summer that I want to get a light color on them to somewhat subtract some heat.

thanks!

any opinion about sportrack vs yakima vs thule?

All have a 17 or 18 cu. foot carrier. Sportrack seems like a budget version....and frankly, I will only use this 2 or 3 times a year.....not a permanent fixture on the truck.

Yakima and Thule are proven and leaders in the industry. I'm all Yakima only because that's what I started with. I've probably got about $3k worth of Yakima attached to my jeep.

Look for paint that has a fan pattern instead of conical. Buy a red scotch bright and or a sponge and some Ajax to prep the plastic. Buy a can of "bulldog" ( or some other variation of adhesion promoter). Prep, spray adhesion promoter, wait 20 minutes, spray paint with overlapping passes. At least two coats, preferably three.
