We have an Eddie Bauer Origin? I believe. I do know they make some car seats for compact cars and such but the are high as a giraffes arse. Honestly thought having a full size truck and my wife has a traverse, that we would have all the room in the world. First time I put the seat in my truck, I learned I was mistaken
I don't really think I was thinking if I could fit a car seat when I bought the truck

it was more like hey, a four door Silverado for cheap..
now im kicking myself in the arse

I bought my truck about 3 months before we found out we were having my son. I thought with the crew cab we would be fine. granted I am 6'2 so I need the leg room to drive, but with the seat in the middle it isn't too bad. I have put the seat behind the passenger seat when we went out of town and had to take my German Shepherd, and wife had leg room but not a lot.

You could look into one of the ones for compact cars, the are more expensive but cheaper than buying a new truck.

i have a 13 F150 crew cab. My 9yo and 2 month old fit fine. For longer trips I purchased a Honda Odyssey mini van for my wife Saturday the room in that thing is unbelievable, most practical vehicle for a family IMO.

Bought a 2015 Silverado over the summer. I don't see how I could fit a car seat into my double cab.

Well, we put the middle seat placement to the test about 5 months ago. It works.
If the seat is properly fastened, I can't think of many situations where side placement would be safer.

Wife refuses to get a van. I don't blame her, either.
I'm going to try that seat in the middle of my double cab, but if not, I'm leaning to go back to an F150. I'm going to get raped on trade in.... frick...

This is the key part. Unfortunately, most people fail to do so and don't even realize it. Glad you are in the minority of this statistic.

While 96 percent of parents and caregivers believe their child safety seats are installed correctly, research shows that seven out of 10 children are improperly restrained.

so wait, is it supposed to be behind the passenger or driver seat, or is it supposed to be in the middle? I can't find anything on that link except that its supposed to be correctly secured and age and weight statistics.

There is no definitive answer. "Studies" and "expert opinions" vary on that. I was merely providing discussion. The only thing that is for certain is exactly what you said; properly sized, properly installed, and often overlooked is the tightness of the actual harness along with placement of the chest clip. I highly recommend having the local state trooper office (or other certified organization) go over the install with you. They also give some great pointers about how tighten the harness around your child.

We were told at the hospital it is preferable for the seat to be in the middle.
Before you leave the hospital, someone will actually inspect and make sure your seat is properly installed.
After my accident a few months ago, the deputy also said back seat, in the middle is preferable. If you are in an accident with a young child, they WILL question your method of restraint.
