why people target reds
Because they are great on the half-shell and in a courtboullion. Fried trout gets tiresome.

redfish on the halfshell is awesome. Plus I can catch limits from my
easily

redfish = trash fish.
that's fine, I guess. Leaves more for me.

I would never call one a trash fish, but I would also never drive from BR just to catch my limit of them.

Like I said, that's fine. I could eat redfish on the half shell everyday and be happy.

Now I get it, that is the differnce, I live maybe 30 min from launch then 15min boat ride to pac.

I've got a good friend headed down to PAC tomorrow morning for some lip ripping action. I told him it is supposed to be on fire after seeing this thread earlier today.
I have sworn to never grace PAC ever again while I am consuming oxygen, fwiw. The last time I stayed at Bobby Bouchet's place at the end of the road, a roach with a chainsaw for a cock followed me around all weekend.

Caught 4 limits by 0930 this morning by the PAC marina, and even came out with some nice specks and flounder. There must of been 50 boats anchored up next to each other just wearing out the reds in one spot. I know they aren't the hardest fish to catch, but reds put up one hell of a fight and it's fun to watch your kid reel one in.

They caught a few reds and a nice speck. They were certainly not fishing beside Johnny this morning!

I heard their crews did some damage there during the cleanup.
If this were the case, Buttfricking Bobby wouldn't have anything left.
We stayed there one weekend 4 or 5 years ago. I vowed to never return, even if Jesus Christ himself came back and operated that marina.

I wonder what it is that they all stacked up there, I've fished PAC for years and never remember this many reds on the bottom by the launch.

All I know is that there is a dick load of oysters at the bottom and that area turns into a feeding frenzy when the water is moving. It turned on like a light switch when the tide changed this morning.
It was also pretty cool to see how courteous everyone was being crammed in that one spot. Boats were tied off to each other, and after our limit we were tossing fish to some of the boaters who came in late and couldn't get into the hole. But I'm used to Big Lake where some a-hole will want to curse you because your fishing the same birds as him.
