As someone who studies mental health I can promise you that this will stop people with mental hygene issues from seeking help. Also, it will push people who have issues onto the black market defeating the stated purpose of the legislation. Furthermore, if an issue with a patient arises, where the mental health professional feels that a patient is a danger to himself or society, he/she is already obligated by law and ethics to noitfy local authorities. This happened with the Joker in Colorado, they took steps, he still shot up the theatre.

The "mental health" argument is a very slippery slope. We've already seen cases of gun confiscation in California over minor stuff. They're just using it as a reason to confiscate.

Because veterans who have sought help for mental health issues have been told by the VA that they're no longer allowed to have firearms.
