I sold tackle in the 80’s for a big tackle store in California to supplement my income from my full time job.
Reels no real money.
Hooks, leader material, custom leaders, and fishing line.
We built rods which was extremely profitable for people going on Tuna boat trips.
We also booked trips on Tuna boats.
Specialize
- store like FTU unlimited
- build rods, kayaks, and tiny boat restoration like Tiny boat nation.
There are a lot of people that cannot afford a big boat. They can buy a used boat and tweak it out. Look at Fred Parnell, The Sports shop. He sold a bateau called Louisiana Traveler and you built it to fit your needs.
- be one stop shop to book charters
- have kits during Xmas for different fishing options bass, crappie, inshore, offshore.
I was thinking to have a clean gas station with clean restrooms.
Have consumable side coffee, donuts, liquor.
Other side tackle and custom rods.
Have gas station with large spacing for people with boats to fuel up.
Live bait and ice.
Shoot videos with guides I represent and promote my store. Like a new rod or new bait of the week.
Find a company that pours baits and design your own lures. Bitter tackle in Florida makes good money and sells a lot of soft plastics even at other tackle stores.

Mine would be hunting lodge.
Build in a component to provide free hunts to disabled veterans.
Apply for grant funds to provide equipment/facilities. Partner with veteran organizations to offset costs.
Win-win.

Anything, anything at all that you tell some fool hunter or fisherman that it is a must have he will buy and spend a lot on it. Fact.
