Is knowing the outcome going to diminish the tv show? One of the reasons I love the show is that I don’t know the outcome until I watch it. Now I will. Prob will not watch as much.
I don't think a lot of people understand that this is completely separate from the Cup and Select events. This won't be the shows that air on the Outdoor Channel, these are live Professional Tour tournaments just like BASS and FLW. The cup events will be filmed and edited and put on TV the same as they have been in the past. We won't know who wins the ones that happen this year until next year. However we will know who wins each BPT event the moment it happens.

Im not gonna watch the live feed because I enjoy watching the tourney on TV with a hangover.
I did see yesterday someone caught a 11 or 13 pounder during practice. First, I wasn't aware they are able to practice now. Second, the butt hurt from people commenting saying " Too bad someone that catches 13 dinks can beat you" and lots of bitching about anglers targeting schools of small fish and it takes away from the competition of targeting the big ones.

I know a guy like that. He calls it Minnow League Fishing. He posted the weights from today on FB and called it that. I was like, "yeah, look at all those 4, 5, and 6 lbs minnows that were caught today."

I do think that they are making a mistake with every fish counting. It's fine in the Cup events, but as for a professional tour with 80 anglers I believe they should still just count the best 5. I'm all for the catch, weigh, release format, but just add up the weight from the best 5. It's not relatable to any other tournaments.

I like the Bassmasters format much better than this.

I'll have to say that I favor the heaviest five, tradition maybe but there's something about targeting big fish.
But when me and my buddies fish we usually bet $10.00 on most, biggest and biggest 5 so who cares.
I enjoyed watching it while working today.

I think this change will be voted on at some point.

Yeah, we’ll see how it works with the current format. But the total weight of all the catches is kinda MLF’s thing.

Will never change to biggest 5. They don’t want somebody who has 20# by 10 AM dicking around are defending his spot. Catch them all day and keep your foot down is made for TV. This format is great and will prove to be what takes the sport to the next level. TV is paying all the bills. These guys aren’t fishing for their own money for the first time ever. Every fish counts is here to stay. I love it.

I read that. They have all the answers.

These events that allow two days practice will be fished just like typical events. The Cups where no one knows where they’re going will be fished much differently. At those you have to fish with your eyes much more than with your electronics. Pure junk fishing find a stretch and put 20 rods on the deck and get after it. Separates the truly great anglers from the rest. Instincts are a thing to be admired.

I totally agree. It’s what sets MLF apart and makes it unique. The traditional tournament style is still there with BASS.

agree...
when I go fishing I'm not about dinks...
I'm about finding and catching the biggest fish I can...

I agree, I enjoy seeing them catch fish but the big fish are what really make it interesting to me.
