Drew Orleans -

I'm in the same boat. I was in the market for an AR pre-Sandy Hook but held out too long. Now I'm paying for that indecision, literally.

I'm probably in to my AR about $1300-140 with all the accessories and upgrades I've bought - but pre-craze I'm in less than $800 total, if that.

It's likely some wishful thinking (from the standpoint of paying so much above market value) on my part, but I'm legitimately concerned about prices not coming down with Obama as president. I don't think AWB will happen, but as long as the threat is there prices will stay up.

Starting to feel like a complete a-hole buying an AR right now. How much cheaper was all this stuff Pre-sandy hook?

1/3-1/2 easy. 1000 rounds was like $400. On the RRA site my rifle lists for 1060 without optics on GB a comprable rifle is going for 1500-2500. I paid about $750. 30 rd mags were $10-15 a piece now they are $20-40 with some places like CTD taking advantage amd selling for $100.

True.

After reading a little about the 300 blk, I might have to get that upper right after my 5.56. Or hell, maybe I should just get the 300 first.

I ordered 5 Gen 3 PMag's for 12.95 each yesterday, hopefully. The parts are out there at a reasonable price you just have to be patient. I'm not in a huge hurry to finish my build so I don't mind waiting until I can find what I want for the right price.

Keep a lookout for PK firearms and buy something with a BCG and charging handle.

Heard that almost no companies will be selling BCGs separately anymore, only shipping them with completed uppers. No reason to set yourself up like some of us that are still looking for them.

And I would look for a 14.5 thats pinned or a 16, I think they are more than capable and will probably give you more options for customization.

There was already a 14.5 Daniel Defense on PK this am with BCG and charging handle, you would have to buy a comp and have it installed though.

Having never actually shot the 300, all I can say is from what I've read. While the bullet itself is bigger than the 5.56, the case is the same size. With the subsonic rounds and a suppressor, there is just enough recoil to cycle the bolt if done correctly.

I was planning on getting my first AR with a part of this years tax return.

plan vacated.

S&W M&P 15. They list retail at about 1,100. No telling what retailers are asking for it now.

I hope this craziness dies down soon

Well, if my lower from Brownells ever comes in, Ill have it with a PSA lower, Magpul furniture, and a Daniel Defense upper for $1200, and thats well after the SHTF.

Its all about patience and finding the best deals. They are out there, just have to wait for them.

Except lowers and BCGs. Those are nearly extinct. Good luck with those.

Edit - Didnt mention my other build, Bravo Company upper, same lower and LPK (if it ever comes in) Just waiting on a BCG, and that total will be under $1k

It's looking like BCG's are going to be harder to find than a leprechaun holding a 10 leaf clover for the next 6-9 months at least.

Wonder if there will be a limit on how many you can order. I will be releasing my funds to you while I am in Disney if not.

Limit was one per person last time, but I snagged 2 by making seperate orders.

Should last about 10 minutes, just got to be by a computer when it goes down.

The NRA is going to get a pretty substantial donation if/when that day arrives.

I may go buy a prepaid card with that exact amount just to give to you in case its when I am gone. I would be pretty pissed if I was on Splash Mountain and I had to order ASAP

They have stated the emailsystem is flawed due to not being able to send out a large mass email at one time. Best way to be notified is to have a auto site checker program on your broswer

6.8 BCG

Apparently you can switch the bolt for a 5.56 bolt, the 6.8 and 5.56 have the same BCG.
