it's a top brand. you'll easily have just as much in the upper if you buy fully assembled.

can i interest you in a Daniel Defense upper receiver for $1200?

i suggest the DDM4v7.

LINK

that with a radian lower will be a top tier rifle.

you'll need a buffer kit and a grip with either of those LMT/Radian lower.

Radian and ADMs are both going to be quite a bit heavier than the others on that list.

Also, in the last year, many other True ambi rifles/lowers have entered the market.

DD Ris3 is now fully ambi ($2K+ gun) but PWS currently makes one of the absolute best forged Fully ambi lowers out there.

These supposedly pair very well with BCM uppers.

$600 right now on PWS' website. LINK

All in all, you could probably have a full rifle for about $1300.

BCM uppers are all on sale right now $700-800 w/free BCG.

You could also buy a Sig M400 for roughly $850 and sell the upper.

Can anyone recommend a quality AR in 556 that is ambi? Looking for something to shoot on the weekends at the property and to have if ever needed.

Considering building one but I'm not sure what the barrier to entry is for that. Can I get the basic tools and parts for cheaper than just buying a whole gun? Saving a few bucks isn't necessarily a concern, but was thinking after I build one I could always build another down the road.

Are you left handed?

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention. I have always been a believer in buy once cry once and I love the DD line.

So am I, and "regular" lowers have never been an issue for me. You can swap the selector over in 5 minutes.

speaking of such, i came across a brownell's video on youtube the other day where caleb goes over how to install the Elftmann Speed Safety. it's essentially the same safety you'd see on a remington shotgun or 10/22. just push it from one side to the other.

That's interesting, I wonder if it's still faster than the 45 degree selectors.

you can do what i failed to do and buy this.

Metro tried to get me to buy this model, but the original online store he linked sold out before i made a decision and wasn't aware of this online dealer that sold the same one.

Tombstone Tactical - DDM4v7 w/ Geissele SSA Trigger and Magpul Sights

Family Firearms - DDM4v7 w/ Geissele SSA Trigger and Magpul Sights

i ended up paying $1850 at a local store here in indiana before some trade-ins. it came in FDE with basic milspec trigger and no sights.

i also highly suggest an AR-15 tool set. got this at a discount at Sportsman Warehouse for $225-ish. it helped me build my Aero Precision rifle over this past weekend.

Also look at BCM since they're currently including free BCGs with their barreled uppers.

Metro,

Should I just order one of the DDs finch linked above for $1600? Must have your blessing if you have suggested them before. I am assuming these aren't ambi, but I can switch the selecter and looks like an ambi charging handle.

i'll tell you this....

that trigger is a $250 trigger.
Primary Arms

and those sights are another $200 (depending on where you get them).
Amazon

you won't find a DDM4v7 for less than $1200 unless it's used. do you want a rifle that's sworn by (DD) or do you want a more budget option (BCM).

to be fair... i haven't even shot mine, yet. i just got it last week and it's my first DD rifle. plus, i'm coming from a "poverty pony", a.k.a. an Anderson Manufacturing AR. but the main consensus online, outside of TD, is that DD is usually one of the better options if the price is right.

The more I think about it the more it bugs the hell out of me that companies sell AR15s for well over $1k and don't even include polymer MBUS sights.

Am I missing something or are these PSA Sabre lowers an absolute deal?

$259 gets you a PSA forged lower with:
- Hiperfire RBT Trigger with JP Reduced Power Springs
- Takedown/Pivot Pins: Battle Arms Development
- Anti-walk pins
- Buffer: Carbine with Sprinco White spring
- Safety: Radian Talon 45/90 Safety
- Furniture: PSA Sabre grip and stock (which look pretty nice)
