Finally made it back to see Propagandolf and ordered my Grendel just now. Gotta keep an eye out for some good glass now.

Referencing barrel length and caliber for a pistol... What is the reasoning behind this?
I'm looking at pistols and want a 5.56, but since it's a "pistol" I want the shorter barrel.

556 muzzle blast (“fireball”) increases with any barrel shorter than 16 from what I can tell.
11.5 or 12.5 seems to be the most common lengths for pistol or SBR 556.
I’m considering a 12.5” 556 but I’m not sure if it’s worth it vs the 16

I'm not completely sure but in think anything shorter that 10.5" and the round is diminished to the point of not being very effect.
I have a 10.5" .223 It has a brace but I wouldn't consider it a pistol.
A .300 elk is designed to be used with short barrels. 8.5" is the optimal length as anything longer doesn't produce a significant enough increase in speed to make it worth it. Anything shorter deteriorates the speed.

I have a 10.3" 5.56 SBR and a 8" 300BO SBR. Anything between those and 16" will be a Geissele URGI 14.5" with a pinned and welded Surefire warcomp.

I wonder if this helps or if it's just a decoration?

I have one on my 300BLK pistol. It seems to help. Also changes the recoil more straight back into my shoulder. I like shooting it much better than my 556 Midlength with a2 flash hider, but I don’t know if it’s a apples to apples comparison.

Just no reason to go with less than 10" with a 5.56. If you're going with that length of barrel, just do a 300 Blackout.

I guess I need to reconsider that then. I just don't like the idea of similar guns, exact mags and 2 different calibers.
I can keep track, but damn I did some stupid shite as a kid and I got a boy just like me 5 going on 15.

The difference is huge. Just mark your mags or use different colors. I've pretty much transitioned to using only black Pmags for 300BO and GI/FDE mags for 5.56. I also don't get how people can load the wrong mags, 300 is noticeably heavier.

I use gray pmags marked 300BLK. Shut you could even run ranger plates on them if you wanted.

Any yall try a .375 socom? I've toyed with the idea of another caliber whether for ar15 or ar10 from time to time but never made the plunge. Read some posts on a few gun sites and seems to be a nice thumper.
What yall think?

Hey Carson or Propagandalf,
If i want me Omega 300 to be easily moved from my AR to my hunting rifle, what muzzle device should i put on both og them. I know it comes with the ASR, but i remember reading there was a better one that was supposed to come out.

Dead Air Keymo system or Q Plan B system.

any particular reason or information you can point me to read on why both of these are better than the ASR

When your Omega is equipped with the Plan-B™ mount & Cherry Bomb™ muzzle brake by Q®, you can enjoy your silencer without worrying about launching it down range.
We accomplish this by utilizing tapers on both the Cherry Bomb™ and the Plan-B™ mount to provide a better lock-up due to an increased frictional surface. No shims, washers, latches, springs, gimmicks, or timing of the muzzle device required!
You're welcome.
SPECS
WEIGHT: 1.85 oz.
MATERIAL & COATING: Heat Treated 17-4 Stainless Steel
MOUNT: Cherry Bomb Muzzle Brake (select a Cherry Bomb in the drop-down if you need one)
REQUIRED TOOLS: Props to SilencerCo for having the forethought to include the tools needed to install replacement mounts. It's as if they knew theirs sucks.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Please refer to your firearms safety manual before performing any maintenance on your own. Seek help from a qualified gunsmith if you don't know what the frick you're are doing.
Cherry Bomb to Barrel
Remove muzzle device from your barrel.
Clean and degrease muzzle threads. Do not use steel tools for cleaning. We recommend using a piece of solvent-moistened Scotch-Brite™, or a brass or nylon brush.
Using a 1/2 inch socket and a torque wrench, tighten Cherry Bomb clockwise to 20-30 ft-lbs. The use of Rocksett won't hurt either.
Plan-B™ mount to Omega
Refer to the Omega manual to remove their stupid mount.
Hand thread the Plan-B™ mount into the Omega. Take care not to cross thread it.
Torque Plan-B™ mount into Omega to approx 35 ft-lbs (according to Omega manual) using the tools provided with your Omega.

ASR isnt as secure as either, locking collar is prone to failure, and the carbon buildup and lockup is worse than either of the other solutions.
