The gun in my Sig pic is my Noveske Infidel. It is a geniii gun and is just fantastic. It was factory cerakoted FDE so thankfully I didnt have to find anyone to do it. What color were you looking for?

I can't find a set or just upper in FDE

The best way to spend 4k on an AR15 would be to buy a Daniel Defense, then swap out all the components you could for Noveske. Then throw a Lilja barrel in it.
There is The Law of Dimishing AR15 Returns. Generally, in a rifle you want it to be reliable and accurate. Obviously, the cheapest rifle is not going to be the best at either. The most expensive rifle should be best at both. But how much incrementally better is one than the other? Where does extra dollars spent stop paying benefits? A rifle can only be so reliable and so accurate. There is a finite cutoff. Accuracy is also limited to the shooters ability. I would say this tops out around $1500 for an AR15. At that point you should be able to build or buy a rifle that is as reliable and accurate as it gets. That rifle would also check all the other superficial boxes as well. Anything more expensive would only give an edge in reliability or accuracy so slight it would likely go unnoticed.
If I had 4k to spend on guns, I'd be walking away with at least 3 or save another 1k and get the civilian SAW FN recently dropped.

They don't make them in FDE except for the RSR exclusive complete rifle. I would say either buy the complete gun (what I did) or get a shop to do the Cerakote on a black matched set. Honestly, the Bazooka Green looks fantastic and is probably what I would go with if I bought another gun from them.

I did not say I had $4k to spend, I said if I did I'd buy an HK and be done with it

I assumed that meant you had $3,999.99.

Well then your choice is to buy the complete FDE gun or get the receivers done by a third party.

What grip is that?
I couldn't do it without fricking anything up so I took it to Acadiana gun works to do while they assembled my upper. When I picked it up their words were "frick. That. Grip."

Or just spray can it. I like the way mismatched and worn in paint jobs look.

Can someone recommend me a good starter AR? On a budget, so trying to stay under 800.

Ruger AR556, Sulzer Firearms Recon or Patrol, S&W M&P15 sport. Of those I would go Sulzer.
