Can't go wrong with Colt, DD, Noveske barrels for a 10.3/10.5

Gas blocks: SLR, Syrac

The switchblock was designed for suppressed use primarily with the AAC M4-2000 in mind.

More contemporary cans (e.g. SF SOCOM) don't have as much blowback, and therefore would be more suited to a more "tunable" gas block (see above).

Do you plan on running a can?

yes a Hybrid from silencerco.

I think I am settled on one of these 2 barrels unless there is a big reason not too. Faxon or Ballistic

I have no experience with those manufacturers, therefore I could not recommend them.

That being said, I have not really heard anything bad about them.

Part of the issue too is everyone is selling out of stuff but these 2 are in stock. I have seen noveskie in stock but they are so expensive...and so far have had a gas block already thats non adjustable. I am sure for what im going to do with it the 2 listed should be fine.

What other parts are you using for your build?

No idea, but why waste money on junk?

What about a Magpul MOE?

Ballistic is what Prop uses to build his guns (at least I know he used, not sure if he switched). They are very good.

The thing searing me to the Faxon is that its stainless steal vs chrome molly (isn't SS better for accuracy?) and the twist is 1:8 since more than likely ill be shooting cheep 55gr wolf gold, PCM, American eagle stuff.

Stainless steel can generally be better for accuracy. However, I have noticed many manufacturers claiming "match grade" merely because their barrels are untreated.

Personally, I would stick to chrome lined (and I suppose nitrided, although I have no experience) for a HD/SD gun.

Unless you are shooting for groups from a bench with a magnified optic, you are unlikely to see much benefit in the accuracy/precision department from a SS vs. CL barrel.

So far what I have is the spikes billet jack lower, gen2 billet upper and the BCM enhanced LPK. What I think I have decided and just need to find is the A5 buffer system, one of these 2 barrels, and possibly the sonics NP3 coated BCG. Need to look at adj gas blocks next.

The rest of the stuff like hand guards and grips are not as important since its looks really.

Excellent choices on the BCG and LPK.

As far as the handguard, I would argue for the function over form school of thought. Pay attention to how the handguard attaches to the barrel nut, rather than purely aesthetics.

Both of those are nitride coated. What I like also about the SS is once its dimpled (not from factory) it will be bare SS rather than Chrome Moly..thinking about corrosion...unless that doesnt happen on bare CM?

As far as I am aware, bore treatments (i.e. CL, nitride) negate the accuracy benefit of SS.

Chrome is corrosion resistant in itself, so I wouldn't be worried about SS vs. CM on the exterior of the barrel.

Someone may have more/better information on these specific topics.

Another thing is the Faxom has an 11-degree Target Crown. Not that im looking to match shoot....im just doing the pros and cons to help pic one. The better version BA barrel has that but it comes with a gas block already pinned...so thats why I stopped looking at that one. It had the NiB feed raps that I thought was cool but the gas block stoped me.

SS barrels have a shorter lifespan than nitride or chrome lined. I built an upper with a stainless barrel with a 12 power optic because I use it for shooting paper. If you are mag dumping and plan on throwing a lot of rounds through it I wouldn't get a SS barrel.

You already have the BCM Enhanced LPK or are you ordering it? If so, did you find it in stock anywhere for a better price than what BCM sells it for on their website?

At this point, I think you're overthinking it.

Just pick a chrome-lined or nitrided offering, adjustable gas block, and drive forward.

These little tweaks won't have any effect on the performance of your barrel.
