Fastenal and Grainger have both. Whether or not they are in stock is another question. However, you can get 50 spring pins from them for what shipping would cost on one from Palmetto or any other online outlet. And it only takes them 2 or 3 days to get them in. Same with the C clips. If you shoot me your mailing address I can send you one of each tomorrow, no charge.

Hey man, can you look at my post at the bottom of the last page? I ordered some furniture from Rock River and the colors don't match.

I've only built 4 uppers but every upper kit I've used the C clip was installed on the dust cover pin instead of loose in the bag so it doesn't get lost.

I swear I left it in there. I did have to take the FA pin out if it though it might've slipped out. I may take Propagandalf up on his offer though. Those c clips I picked up with those pins just barely fit onto the upper.

Old school with a little color, eh, GT. Right down to the GI mag.

Looks sort of like my EA-15. I kept it in the traditional black.

(I do have about a dozen GI mags, too. )

I don't know what to tell you brother. In that photo it does look gray, but the lighting in the photo isn't the best.

I don't know where you got them from, but if you ordered OD and they sent you black/gray I would give them a call. Could be their guy who picks orders in a poorly lit warehouse made a mistake.

I ordered from Rock River. I'm thinking I should have gone with Armalite

No way. It doesn't have a precision stock, full length rail, crazy excessive optics, bipod, Q-beam, laser, rocket launcher, Swiss Army Knife, offset BUIS, $150 safety lever, etc. If ARs were human beings, that would be a Neanderthal with a mani/pedi.

I'm sorry, I misspoke.

I am a tack driver

I do want to build a sexy one with all kinds of useless shite on it too though

Is there any name brand ammo I should stick with? The local Walmart had these for $7.44 and I went ahead and bought 6 boxes...

LINK

I assume it's Federal ammunition so I'm thinking it was a good price for 20 rds.

American Eagle is a Federal brand. At present, I'm only buying Federal 5.56mm, and I'm favoring 62 grain, but have a good bit of 55 grain, too. I have some leftover Remington in .223.

Some guns may like the AE .223 better, on the accuracy side. I would be more leery about using that for reloading, depending on the headstamp.

Winchester would be fine, as well, for economy/bulk ammo.

I would stay away from Wolf and Tula, but other guys are going to say I'm crazy.

In my first AR all I fired was Tul ammo. Never had a problem.

Wolf/Tula works fine in mine. Sure, there are better.

Funny how ARs cost a lot, but have to have the so called best of the best, or they won't work right.

My AKs give no fricks.

The 1990s called. If you're not picky and watch for sales, you can shoot a new AR, out the door for under $500. You can build your own and be (a little bit) picky for under $800.

Low tolerance, sloppy, slacky stamped metal crap with underpowered ammo, that was designed specifically for the average, illiterate Russian, Arab or Asian soldier better not give any fricks about ammo. It's not going to win any marksmanship competitions.

I have a Noveske which is $2700. Some people have an M&P Sport which is $500. They both shoot each time you pull the trigger. Just because mine is more expensive does not mean it is more reliable.

I know ARs can be had for 500. I know 1k is not a lot in AR world, and especially in the firearms world. But reguardless, 500, 1k, 1500, is a lot of money. For that kind of money to be limited seems to be a downside for ARs.

Yes the AK will not win a marksmanship competition. It is made to hit human size targets. I use the AR the same way. If I want to bench shoot, I use use my bolt actions with scopes.

Wolf Gold is great for plinking. $0.30/round for brass case. Shoots great.

My favorite steel case I can get locally is the Monarch stuff from Academy. Manufactured by Barnaul. More accurate and a little more oomph than the Tula/Wolf steel ammo I've shot.

If you are shooting the steel stuff just don't follow up a bunch of steel case with brass without cleaning the throat because that's when the case normally gets stuck.
