You shouldnt need it with your build, but it goes on the extractor spring to help cycling if you're rifle is having trouble.

I tried to sweet talk BCM into allowing me to retroactively select the option for the bcg, like they are currently doing, with the upper i got last month. Got shot down with the quickness.

re: flashlights, I just got this combo in today. $45 including mount

With the right mount I'm sure they would. Surefire also makes some specifically for shotguns. And their 870 forend has a place for a picatiny mount.
