Stay away from Romanian AKs and you should be ok.
The new PSA GF3s are phenomenal guns. Especially their AK pistols.

The current Romanian guns are perfectly fine. Back 10+ years ago there were issues with them but they have greatly improved their assembly since then. Of course they also cost a lot more these days though.
I’ve heard mostly positive reviews for the PSA gen 3 guns. They are probably the way to go these days if you want a decent cost effective shooter AK.

Wouldn't mind owning a "Krinkov" variant some day but they cost $$$
Some of the old AK owners may still remember that during the ban a company called Progressive Arms came into being( later Chief Thunder got sent to Club Fed) and started selling $9.99 Circle 10 waffle mags and $199 AKSU-74 parts kits. It caused K-var to dropp their kits down to $250. I wish I had snagged them. Its a cool gun.

Nah if you can find a Romanian G kit and get someone to put it together it is a great gun.

After shooting some AR pistols with braces I am going to build me up a pap m92 with a brace.
This is a sbr, but I am going to buy the triangle brace instead of going the sbr route.

Looks like a Tula bakelite and looks like east german magazine. Could be wrong the steel but that Tula is always sweet.

I picked up a NPAP, mainly because I was given 7.62x39 by mistake and didn't have a way to shoot it. I picked up some PMAGS and a couple of Croatian steel mags that were recommended by some AK aficionado I ran into at the one day I shot it. The Commies do make decent glass, though chin-to-stock weld isn't great...

I have some expensive rifles and some budgets. My PSA GF3 is possibly the best put together AK I own.
I have some PSA ARs as well. And they can’t hold a candle to the GF3 in terms of quality. I have been very impressed. And it’s an absolute blast to shoot. I ordered an AK-V today when I saw them in stock.

For the gucci Comrads, Shooting Surplus has Arsenal 107s. Only five round mags, though.

Nice gun but for that kind of money, the stock shouldn't have the lightening grooves. One of those AK annoyances of mine if it isn't chambered for 5.45...

There’s a lot of things that aren’t “correct” on the SLR107r. It’s really more of an ak74 chambered in 7.62x39 than it is an AKM. I don’t really see any advantages for the SLR-107r over the WBP fox or Zastava Z-PAP other than the SLR is in stock right now. IMO the Fox and Z-Pap are much better and more collectible guns that also cost significantly less than the retarded prices Arsenal is charging for their rifles these days.

Getting closer. Waiting for the adjustable gas piston and a rail kit to mount a red dot:
This thing threw a serious amount of fire, the new 4 piece flash hider should help cut that down to nothing.
Not sure what I am gonna do with the wood. May go blonde with a nice clear coat or try and figure out a nice dark plum color.

Bought a NPAP AK today. Never been fired with stock wood furniture and 160 rds ammo (more already on the way). Paid $850. I don’t really know a lot about these things other than I wanted one.
I have a few questions for the gurus.
1.) I would like to put a side folding stock on it can I gett some recs?
2.) it has the side rail. What Red dot mount do y’all recommend?
3.) should I put a rail forearm on it?

I like to keep my AKs pretty close to original military configuration so I won’t be much help on the rail. But I can recommend the RS Regulate side rail mount (make sure that you get the proper one for Yugo pattern AKs.) I’m not super up to date on the hottest side folding stocks now but be aware once again that Yugo pattern rifles use their own style of buttstock and handguard. So make sure you get ones that are specifically made for Yugo AKs. Magpul makes their Zhukov side folding stock with a specific model for Yugo AKs for example.

Also check out AK Operators Union on YouTube for tons of great AK info and reviews. He really puts all the popular AKs and accessories to the test.

Thoughts on shooting Tulammo steel case on the AK-47?
I know AK's will shoot anything.
Before i buy a case for $300 from Sgammo. I still have over 500 rounds left.

Tula isn’t the greatest but it should run fine in an AK. You may have a handful of dud rounds out of a 1,000 round case but it will cycle fine otherwise.

Most AKs were designed to fire steel case ammo. It's all the communist bloc countries used. The extractor on an AK is made to pull steel rounds out of the chamber even in sub zero weather

I’m looking at side folders - how functional is the triangular side folding stock? Is it originally Soviet/Russian?
