Agreed.......it's easy to sit back on the interwebz and say what you'd do..............but protecting my family is not something I take lightly. I will kill an uninvited assailant in my home. No questions asked.

i mean really! shooting someone even if its someone breaking in my home is something i hope i never have to do! would be terrible to know i took someones life, even in that situation. BUT i know for a fact i wouldnt think twice about doing it if they broke into my home! at that point its me or them...and i choose the latter every time

easy to say that when your arse isn't on the line.

Not saying the guy in OP did anything wrong but there is a fine line in the eyes of the law on when a fist fight can turn into a life or death situation where guns can become involved.

It is truly scary how your life can change in the blink of an eye and then it's in the hands of 12 strangers and hired lawyers ( scum ). They get months to analyze your actions when you had split seconds to make your decision.

Yea the ex was apparently pissed that the kids might have been moving away due to Jason being in the service. He may have been a good guy up until that point, but he lost his head. Kids and love make otherwise decent people do foolish things. And it cost that guy his life. Jason just did what he felt was neccessary.

And this is why I'm not sure I'll ever have a CCL.

Watching lawyers and 12 strangers determine my fate would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse than taking a serious arse whipping.

yes it is easy to say... and i agree in any public situation... but when someone BREAKS AND ENTERS? are you saying you even question it? shoot first and question later! that is the dealbreaker for me! when someone has came into my home and assaulting me/my wife...i dont question it

he statute further states that a person who is not engaged in unlawful activity and is in a place where he or she has a right to be, shall have no duty to retreat before using deadly force … and may stand his or her ground and meet force with force.

Uhh how did this get out of grand jury? Seriously prosecutors usually dont take cases they already know they are going to lose.

i understand your logic... an arse whipping i can handle. someone breaking into my home and assaulting me, or my family i cannot. and as far as ccl is thrown out the window here.. its not needed in the home

I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. If I'm out of control and reckless then I have no business carrying to begin with... BUT if I save my children's/wife's life by carrying then I've done my job as their protector. You said earlier (and I agree with you) that your perspective may change with a family. It will.

It's a damn shame that you have to be worried about spending 40yrs in jail for protecting yourself.....your wife and your home.

Jason Rolls was and still is a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force who cleared him of any wrong doing in the shooting back in 2010.

quote:

Shortly thereafter, Hall knocked on a locked — but apparently improperly closed door — and then entered the couple’s home without permission.

In police statements, the couple stated that Hall attacked both of them, pushing down Twaila Rolls as he made his way to Jason Rolls, who was resting on a couch in another room.

Hall was 5 inches taller and weighed 75 pounds more than Jason Rolls.

When the two men met, Hall tackled Rolls, ripping his shirt as they fell to the ground, according to David’s report.

Jason Rolls grabbed for a nearby gun and shot Hall once in the chest, killing the unarmed man, the document says.

quote:

Around July 2011, Roll’s bond was revoked, after attending a gun show with friends and family where a friend purchased a gun for Roll’s wife whose constitutional rights to bear arms were not revoked due to her husband’s legal circumstances.

Rolls went the next year in jail as a result of this revocation continuing to maintain his innocence and rejecting plea deal after plea deal from the prosecution.

Rolls was able to bond out again in August 2012 after a Judge lifted the bond hold.

Friends of Rolls tell us the 27th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has offered numerous plea deals, including negligent homicide, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
