I agree. I wasn't there, but I'm sure I would have shot him too.
If that jury were to decide that the perp wasn't going to keep beating him or something like that though, he's significantly more fricked than he would have been spending even a few months in the hospital.

I remember hearing about this when it first happened. Reading the articles has my blood pumping. That is complete BS. If a guy comes into my home without permission, assaults my wife, and starts to assault me, then all bets are off.

I don't think I'd have a problem killing a man in this situation.
After seeing my dad once when I was a child in a situation where he had to protect his family. He says to this day that in that situation he was prepared to kill if need be. I believe him........his whole demeanor changes when he talkes of that day.

This is it........if a stranger comes into my home uninvited......I won't be asking any questions.

Damn that sounds fricked up. Even if he is acquitted, it still fricked his life up more than it should have. (Based on the facts provided of course.)

What bothers me is the brother's testimonial in that article. He said Jason didn't need to use that much force. My response is this:
"Who forced him to break, enter, and assault two other people in their own home?"
He willingly chose to drive to the newly-married couple's home and assault them. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I don't think you're going to find 12 people in rural Louisiana that side with the state in this case.

It just seems like the family of the ex husband wants some money for him being an idiot and assaulting Jason.
From what I've seen and heard, the ex was a firefighter and generally seen in a positive light by the community. In their eyes he was too good of a guy to have done anything wrong. Whereas Jason had somewhat of a less positive reputation when he was younger before he joined the USAF.

What scares me is that you still can't know for sure. It should never come down to Jason facing these charges.

While this may be true, the firefighter was not forced to enter their home uninvited and assault them. That's the problem I have.
I'm sure you agree with me though.

That could be a MASSIVE problem.
If he was seen as a bad kid and was well known for it in the past he'll probably carry that reputation into the courtroom with a podunk small town trial.

UPDATE: Trial has been postponed till tomorrow morning due to some lawyer involved not having their paperwork up to date as per Facebook.

I wouldn't shoot a guy who's trying to fight me anyway.
i wouldnt waste my time fighting a guy that broke into ny house. i dont know if he has a gun, knife, or what. that isnt the time to "duke it out". Put a few rounds in him and be done. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Exactly......you never know someone else's intention.
Several month ago something similar to this happened in Monroe. One guy had dated another's ex........they had words at the bar........one calls the other to come to his house and fight him........guy shows up and gets shot dead on the spot out in the yard.

this wasn't some random dude. If your wifes ex boyfriend walked in your house and started throwing haymakers....you would just say frick it and shoot him?

Not exactly. I would skip the saying frick it part.

Are you shitting me? If he came into my home uninvited and assaulted my wife before assaulting me.
I'd shoot him quicker than shite........damn sure before he had time to shoot, stab or otherwise harm me.

it would be different if he came in my yard calling me out and i go outside on my own and we throw down... this man broke into the freaking house, knocked my new wife to the ground and charged me? only thing i woulda done differently was probably emptied the magazine instead of just one shot
