Now you can add lifetime hunting/fishing license to your La driver's license

Next time you renew your driver's license at the Office of Motor Vehicles, you can add the following endorsements to your license; Lifetime hunting, Lifetime fishing, Lifetime combination, Boater education, and Hunter education at no additional cost (Just bring the license or education card with you next time you renew to add the endorsement).

Thanks for the heads up. Any idea if a game warden will honor the endorsement without the actual license in hand?

Legally they have too I think. It's codified. Whether or not they understand that and let you go without writing a ticket is another matter.
ETA: Link to statute as issued by LA state legislature

I read about this yesterday. I need to go get my lifetime fishing. I know you have to go in to do that. Which place do I have to go to? Is it the one on flannery?

Mine was a present, and I never went anywhere. Just filled out the paperwork at home IIRC. That was 15 years ago

You only need to go in if you need a license right now. If you go to the headquarters on Quail Drive, and pay in cash, they will give you a receipt that serves as a temporary until the permanent comes in the mail. At least that's how it was in 2007.

Place is on Quail drive off perkins. Did this last week on Wednesday, got my card on Monday this week. Like ol baw said, receipt will work as temp card.

The statute is from 2014. I asked about it last year and dmv had no idea what i was talking about. Maybe they have fixed it.

They have. It's listed as an endorsement on the license now

Thanks for the tip! I was going in tomorrow to get my veterans drivers license and now I'll add on the lifetime license and boaters license.

I know this is an old arse bump, but I renew my drivers license this month. Anyone had success doing this? Specifically at the DMV express on Perkins in BR.

Didn’t someone say on here that Louisiana was going to stop issuing lifetime licenses.
Does anyone remember what the date was that was mentioned

I don't think its a complete no longer offering at all, but whatever the changes are don't take affect until June 2022. I just got mine last month.

Guess I’ll go ahead and stop procrastinating and fill out the application and go ahead and get mine.
