Pelicans are "ok" starter yaks. I went ahead and bought the ascend at bass pro for $450 when I bought my first kayak bc I knew I would be in the sport for a while and I love it so far. If you do plan on really fishing out of your kayak a lot I would spend the extra money for a better quality kayak.

My problem with kayak fishing is that my legs go numb sitting in that position for so long

That's a great price. However, that is only because the yak is not so great. If it's something you may do once and never do again or only a few times a year, and you're pressed for cash, then it's not a bad idea. You can get a much better yak for not too much more.

It helps when you can stand in your yak and walk from one end to the other.

I would demo a couple 1st. Wish I would have listened to people telling me that before I bought my yak. While I like my yak I now know what I want in one. Only problem is it isn't cheap.

I'd buy a rigged out Diablo if I could afford it.

I had that exact yak for 5 years and fished out of it a ton. Everything from short hour long trips to an all day float trip down the Red River. I found that kayak to be a GREAT fishing kayak. I highly recommend it for a beginner yak.

If you want something to stand in, you're gonna need to spend 3 times that.

that kayak sucks. You get what you pay for. It will probably float.

i spent 2 days fishing in a pelican castaway and thought it was fine... until i got into my buddies ascend. it seemed easier to maneuver than the pelican

my advice save up your money for a nicer one

This. And then after you get addicted, you will buy a Hobie/KC/Jackson
