We were bream fishing and my son rared back and hooked me right in the eyeball.

Thank goodness we have an eye doc that’s a friend. He met us at his office after hours and had to numb the eye and get it out. Said I was very very lucky to not lose that eye

I’ve been there a few times.

Saw this KVD video and it works really well. Pretty much painless and right back to fishing. I use a little stringer line instead of fishing line

Holy shite, glad that didn't end as badly as it could've. That's brutal

I have taken probably 25 hooks out of people over the years. Palm side of the fingers is the absolute worst place to be hooked. Most people would not let me mess with those. Anywhere else is easy to remove. Just too many nerves there.

Hooked in the finger absolutely sucks.

[quote] Worst is when a fish is still on bait and going crazy. Was fishing TB and the bass were schooling. Catch one, he shakes, and the bottom treble not only caught one finger but two. Hard to remove by yourself having to hold the fish so no more damage can be done.

I'm going to forget about this thread. Been fishing for fifty plus years and almost every day for the past ten. I've never come close to hooking myself. But as surely as Biden has screwed things up in his old age, I see a gigging coming in mine.

Three episodes in 60 years of fishing, all before I finished college. Yanked a 6” Rebel Minnow out of a willow tree and as it flew towards my face I stopped its flight with the back of my hand. Stuck against a bone, off to the old MidCity BRG ER. The look on the black lady’s face when I flipped my hand on the counter with that bait dangling was priceless.

One routine crankbait in the top of the thigh in the Basin, I pushed it through and clipped it and kept fishing (human skin is really tough when you’re young). My fishing buddy very nearly passed out.

The Mirrorlure stuck in my eye socket was a different matter. We were on a hot trout bite, so I told the guy that hooked me to clip it off and we kept fishing. My Dad’s fishing buddy that was a surgeon cut it out later, and commended me for finishing out the bite.

These pictures make my skin crawl. I stepped on a treble hook once when I was about 12 and I think it severely traumatized me. Hurt like a mfer when my grandpa went to digging it out.

There used to be a meme floating around where a guy was hooked and you could see the hook under his fingernail. I damn near passed out the first time I saw it.
