Need some woodcarving help...

We ordered a ship wheel off amazon, and it came missing a handle. They gave me my money back and told me to keep the ship wheel.
So now the wife thinks so highly of me, she assumes I can make a handle to match this. Any ideas on how I could carve this...or any clue where to buy one?
I've called the company that made it. The are a wholesaler only and pretty much impossible to get to talk to someone. Have been able to find anything close online. I know zero about woodcarving.

Just look up wooden tool handles, might get lucky. Better yet look up ships wheels handles.

Definitely plan b. But I doubt I'll ever match the stain either way. May just have to paint the bastard.

Use a lathe, you won't get it exactly to match but should get pretty close. Now stain is a different issue

Figured that was the best answer I would get. My fil has a lathe, will have to get over there.

Use a friend's lathe and you will be able to make a matching handle. Make a few an practice staining on one until you get it right for the one you will use.
