Are the solar ones less noisy than the regular ol quartz ones?

I like me a $40 timex but a $200 one is gonna need to ve quiet enough to sleep with.

I own three solar watches; two are Citizen EcoDrives and one is a Seiko Chronograph. None of them make any audible tick. I know the cheap quartz Expeditions tick like a wall clock, in fact I just found one in the back of a drawer and put a new battery in it just to see if it still worked. Works great but took the battery back out as soon as I heard how loud it was... I imagine the Epson movement in the solar Timex Expeditions is probably much quieter than the M905.

Citizen has a field watch that is only $40 more right now, that would probably be a better buy.

I think Citizen's EcoDrive technology is just better than anyone else's solar tech, they've been doing it for a long time and my two EcoDrives can go months and months in complete darkness before giving a low charge warning. My Seiko will only go a few weeks at most, even with a brand new battery. It probably needs a service but not really interested in sending it in at the moment.

I've had that exact Citizen you linked for 10 years and I like it a lot. I recommend changing the strap on it though. You can also find it much cheaper on the gray market as well.

Check Timex. They’ve been releasing some really nice stuff.
