Preferably something I can spray on the leaves and kill the tree. TIA

Remedy. Not restricted (at least in Texas). If you're wanting to kill small trees, foliar application works, but on larger trees, basal application is best. Will kill a hackberry quick.

Following... Need rec for water elm.
There is something out there, the powerline guys spray it. Just not sure if it's available to the public.

Tordon.
used this and it does work great, but I was hoping for something I could apply without having to cut into the tree.
I'll give Remedy a shot. Thanks all.

I'd agree on the basal treatment for any size tree, I've sprayed Remedy + roundup on hackberry foliarly with limited success, this was on small re-sprout from small cut stumps, spray to wet with a backpack sprayer. Garlon/Remedy/Triclopyr + diesel mixed 1:4 or 1:5 depending on label recommendations for low-volume basal bark application. Another option on hackberry is hack and squirt using picloram + 2,4-D/Pathway, which is ready to use.

drill a 1/4" hole down to the core fill hole with tordon, plug hole with small stick if you need concealment.
