I'll be there next weekend for the first time since I was a toddler. I've always heard it's a maze of stumps and such. Are the navigable channels clearly marked?

Just follow the buoys. If you lose the buoys, trim up and send it.

if you don't know go slow

Run the markers. With the water up it isn’t as bad. Where are you staying?

Yes boat lanes are marked but it can’t get confusing at times. If you find yourself away from a bouy just stop and look. Sometimes bouys drift or not there.
A gps with boat lanes really helps.
FYI. Texas side markers are different than La side. Some lanes are like a highway with you staying inside the bouys others there is only one line of bouys and you just stay close to them on either side

Can remember fishing it when there was still green timber and pine saplings, those were good times.

Believe it or not the LA side is easier to navigate than the Texas side with just the buoys. Those buoys sometime are hard to see. Also some of the intersections can get confusing. LA is much easier to just stay between the PVC. If you loose your bearing slow down and idle until you find markers again.

As long as its marked channels I'm good. I just dont wanna RIP the bottom off my boat on a stump

Just idle if your off of a boat road and you'll be fine. The lake is almost at full pool and most stumps you wouldn't hit on plane right now. But I'd much rather be safe than sorry.
