Which of these should I join and why? It seems that the NAGR may be a little more active in political action against gun rights abuses. That's what I am looking for. The NRA seems that they play more defense than offense. Am I right?

Might also consider Gun Owners of America (GOA). I've been an NRA life member for years but haven't been making donations because they are too bloated and need a leadership change. Any money I would have donated to the NRA has been used joining and supporting GOA.

Pretty much right. Give FPC and SAF a look also. They are big into court battles. We need both legislative and judicial efforts.

If you're looking for a national organization, GOA.

If you buy from Amazon, use Amazon Smile and set the Firearms Policy Foundation as your charity through Amazon Smile. When you have to buy from Amazon, might as well make them donate to a charity that you know they loathe.

Louisiana Shooting Association is also decent if you want to support a more local lobbying group. Your membership to LSA also gets you eligible to buy a rifle from the Civilian Marksmanship Program if that interests you.

The NRA needs a new hand on the tiller. I've stopped renewing my membership and shifted those funds to organizations that I think are run by people who aren't just trying to feather their nests.

As far as I'm concerned, Wayne Lapierre and the rest of the NRA management is a threat.

Any extra donations, I make to SAF.

Your church would be a much better use of your time than either of these organizations
