What should I look for?

Nothing was left on that I can tell. Keys weren't in the ignition.

Ran like a champ 2 weeks ago. Glad I checked it out today before hitting the ramp this weekend.

Gracias.

Do you think this battery is junk now that it was completely discharged?

At 3 years old, and completely discharged, it may be time to think about a new battery, take it to Autzone and have it tested.

Shouldn’t be since it has only been down a few days. Charge with a low amp charger overnight and then test it with load tester. If you don’t have one, bring it to any place that sells batteries, they will.

Charge it up, and then see how long it takes to drain. Have you stuck a multimeter on it while it is running? What about checking amp draw while it's off?

Could be battery
Could be parasitic drain
Could be alternator not charging it enough

Thanks. I'm yanking it tomorrow and taking it to Auto Zone.

Will trouble shoot more after that and will likely have more questions.

No need for questions. It's simple. Charge it. Check voltage while cranking. Drops below 10 volts? Bad battery. Under 12 volts with engine running? Charging problem. Over 12 while running but falls below 12 after killing? Bad battery

If I were to trust the volt meter on the console, it was at 13+ while running. When off it was at 12.

Meh...My chaparral 230 ssi has a problem where it drains the battery over time...even with the perko switch set to off! I have yet to find that damn draw...I just unhook the positive terminal when done with it for any time more than a few days.

A battery test will tell you if it's that...otherwise..start chasing the electrical gremlins.,

Get the battery load tested while you have it out. Idk if they do that at Autozone, but ask about it.

If the battery checks out good, go buy a multimeter from Harbor Freight, and check how it's charging while the truck is running. If everything is good with that, stick the multimeter in series with the battery, and check the amperage draw with everything off

Harbor Freight has a battery load test for less than $20.

What's a good brand for a cranking battery in case this one is dead?

Newer 12V car batteries don’t need water added anymore. The batteries are designed to be maintenance free.

Get a premium battery at a local auto parts store as it’ll have the longest free replacement warranty and the highest cold cranking amps. It doesn’t really matter which one, although I’m partial to O’Reilly.

Last time I needed a cranking battery, Sams had $20 off. Most batteries are either East Penn or Johnson Controls made. I want to say the Sams was an East Penn. Works great

Got a new battery (Interstate AGM). Installed it and checked for amp draw with everything off and didn't see anything.

I'm taking to the lake tomorrow and will check how it looks running.

Do y'all charge your cranking battery after each use?
