Yes.
I was stationed at Ft Polk years ago.
On post, they'd spray the front yards regularly, which was pretty effective. But, you couldn't go in the backyard early evening in the Spring —almost clouds of them.
We trained in the field 18-21 days a month in 10 of 12 months in my unit. I was an IN BN Scout, so we were out in the worst conditions for hide sites most of the time. I can still hear the constant buzzing of those blood-sucking beasts. We'd often try and find a herd of wild horses circling up for the night to be near. It was a good early warning for counter-recon efforts and provided alternative meal options for the mosquitoes.
They issued us 100% DEET, which I'm sure will be the cause of cancer at some point. If it hit plastic, it ate it. It has ruined many a cheap field watch face. It's the only place I've been stationed stateside that required a yellow fever shot.
An early spring would make late Feb to May almost unbearable.
Good times, though, in hindsight, as most things are. Embracing the suck creates a great deal of esprit de corps as you trudge through. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

I grew up calling them mosquito killers, the same bug. I was more than disappointed years later in life to find out that they don't even kill mosquitos.

Yes, went outside around 5:45 this morning to load the car and got swarmed.
Had to go get some spray and nuke around the outside of the door so they wouldn't swarm into the house as I went in and out to load the car.

South Lake Charles here and I can't go outside at all.
I left my garage door up for 20 minutes yesterday evening and was almost carried away this morning when I went into the garage.

Parish has been by once this week in my hood, Chosen Valley.
The state needs to be flying the big planes like they did after Laura, Delta, Ida.
