Leftover chicken sauce piquant from work Saturday with some potato salad. Millers to wash it down. Hanging outside with the new pup, bluetick and lab mix named Nellie. If y’all have any tips on having a squirrel/coon/deer tracking dog, I’ll take em all. Actually have time to mess with this one, I want to get her right.
Had to place the beer far enough to take the picture while tugging her collar….bout as alchy as her 11 yr old sister already

Cool looking pup and should do what you want to do, just not all three!!
Not sure if I would try to do all three with her, that’s asking a lot to know what you are hunting that day and not have her break on one of the other when first out on a deer.
I have a lab that’s blood trained and retrieves but likely hood of crossing up while doing one or the other is pretty slim, he would like to chase squirrels or coons but anything besides ducks or deer is a fussing and you can see his body posture that he knows he fricked up when he starts to chase one.

Oh I understand all 3 is asking for a bit much. I’d like to be more of a trailing dog, but if she takes more to treeing, I’ll take it. I just have time to be out and about and actually work with her now compared to my 11 yr old bloodhound/lab while working turnarounds.

Start now with some hide drags. Short east tracks
With a treat.
Use some blood it can be from a defrosted bag of deer meat and lay down a short track with a lot of blood for 50yd or so and a treat and praise at the end.
Start making the trails longer with less blood based on how she did the previous track and the treats less and give more praise.
Buy a tracking collar so you can let her track off leash and nod her thing.

Good looking puppy. Good luck. I have a relatively new (1yr) pup and if I could get her to quit stealing shoes/Christmas decorations/basketballs/packages from the man down the road I’d be tickled.

Popcorn and some Ultras at the baseball game. Some Redemption on the rocks now that I'm home.

That’s what I was looking at doing. How are the hides you can buy from the store, like the training kit?

Uncle shot a damn nice(for these parts) buck that he’s thinking of doing a euro instead of shoulder mount. If he skins it, I’ll use that, but he’s not sure what he’s going to do yet.

What’s a good age to start? She made 8 weeks yesterday. Has A LOT of play in her. Full blown puppy mode right now, but I’m assuming sooner the better. I’m pumped up over here

Only thing mine has taken so far is my big dog’s food, which I picked up on a chair now. But she gives ol girl hell in the back yard. Most exercise she’s gotten in quite a while waiting on her to get put in her place, but big girl is chill and takes it.

On the second cut, probably hitting a third tomorrow. Trash grass and whatnot.

Not cooking, Cajundillas and miller tonight. Popped a tree rat before we left, skunt it up and cut the tail off to try and mess with the pup.
