From what I've heard and read it seems like there was a big shakeup.

Your guess is as good as mine.

How much are the Feds paying now to collect the flawed data they are currently using?

Youve already showed the article that discusses the internal and external pressures being applied to the demotion of the former assistant secretary of fisheries.

He resigned from the department in May for unknown circumstances. Notice how you didn't hear anything about that in the newspapers? Only thing you can find is a little post on the ldwf website.

LINK

Also have you noticed that the website that was being promoted LAFish.org has been shutdown since around the same time?

So now we have Gaetti and Barf winking and nudging each other about all of the juicy info they have but can't share with anyone. A good thread turned to shite in an instant.

The states should have authority over this and not the feds

Given that red snapper is not a highly migratory species, it doesn't make much sense at all to have it governed by the clowns in flurda.

All I got out of that article was a guy inside the previous administration who improved the collection of harvest data and worked to increase rec's access to ARS was being replaced when a new administration took office. If he did something illegal that is relevant to his position on ARS please enlighten us or STFU.

Dude, this isn't True Detective. They aren't going to send a hit squad to your house. It's a pretty big contradiction to on one hand be blaming Jindal for raiding funds but on the other hinting at some impropriety going on within the department.

Pretty much. Outside of that there really isn't anything to tell. I guess we could speculate? My guess would be some people on the counsel got greased.

The Gulf Council? LWF has been fighting them tooth and nail, at least until this week. The one guy y'all are all but implicating is the same one who told them to frick off and recommended a 365 day state season.

Jesus, if the regulations we have now were the results of bribes I would hate to see what they would be if they played it straight.

I don't see how the outcome isn't a result of bribes, because it's certainly not a result of science.

Either way, I have no idea why WLF would be investigated or why someone from within the agency would be going to the clink, all I know is someone I trust told me it's going down.

That's all I know.

If I had to speculate it wasn't anything with the council.

Barfs right I don't know anything else other than stuff is going down.

Ok, let's get back on topic. You are saying we have to accept Federal management based on flawed data because any other option would be too expensive even though we really don't know how much it costs currently or would cost to make the change. So your vote is for the status quo?

Nope not at all.

If the state has a big enough budget and the willpower/personal respurces to manage a stock then let it happen.

My concern from reading that article is that the powers pushing for regional management don't have an idea of the amount of fiscal burden that would be placed on the states without Federal funding.
