Every news release I've seen is pretty clear that it's Meateater that purchased FL, but since Chernin has a controlling stake in Meateater, it's probably a big chunk of their money that helped buy it.
Either way, Rinella is really growing Meateater into much more than a podcast, a Netflix series, and a few books.
