I’ve been a hammock camper for some years now. I rarely go to ground camping anymore- maybe once in the past 10 years. I set up a tarp 100% of the time, whether car camping with the family or solo camping/backpacking.

My Kammok Kuhli tarp that I’ve been using for the past five+ years finally broke. It’s still usable, but I have to tie knots to secure it now. So, I’ve been looking to replace it.

I’ll most probably replace it with the same model/brand/upgrade, but I still searched just to see what’s out there.

To my dismay, I stumbled upon the Snowpeak brand tarps. I own their titanium cup, pot and long spoon, which I do love, but their tarps? Holy frick.

Their prices for “premium” camping tarps, TARPS mind you, range from ~$450 - $1200. Again, FOR TARPS!

Even Zpacks’’ ultralight dyneema tarps’ ceiling is ~$500

What fool is paying these prices and when did the prices for quality gear become so outrageous???

Gotta do it for the gram bro

People buy it. You can find fat dudes in kuiu shite at any gas station in louisiana all december long. People burn stupid money on hunting and camping gear these days.
