Been fighting Statefarm on a roof claim and am at a point where I need to bring one in. Wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation before I pick a random one near the northshore.

I’d be hesitant. They are going to take at least 10% of the claim. What’s the issue?

Insurance agencies referring PA’s? Must be getting bad down there.

Yeah counter productive. Pa’s are equivalent to ambulance attorneys for the most part. Except you can do the same thing they are doing without a bar card

Ftr I work as an independent third party for ins companies. I cringe any time a pa is involved. Because it lessens insureds payout. No matter what.

I am at an impasse with State Farm. Had a bad adjuster and cannot get them back out to readjust. Would gladly pay the 10% to get my claim paid out

Define third party please????
Most if not all companies have been giving their clients the boudin on the two storms. I have learned a couple things talking to them.

I’d assume self employed or through an adjusting firm. Not directly by a carrier.

So what’s the issue. Are they flat out denying the claim, excluding some items, etc?

If it’s a coverage issue, I’d just hire an attorney. You’ll end up paying for one in the end. If it’s more a scope of work concern, ie. they are excluding some areas you are claiming but allowing for others, you may need a specialist depending on the details (roofing, structural, forensic accountant, etc).

Has an Engineer looked at it? Some companies will pay if requested for an Engineer to do an analysis of what is Storm Damage versus what may be Wear and Tear or improper installation.

When you hear the roofers using air guns to install your roof and it sounds like a shooting range, there is a good chance they are pushing the nail through the shingle and it will eventually slide down due to gravity, especially on a steep pitched roof. That is not considered Storm Damage by most companies.

Wind damage is pretty evident, the shingle is blown off or wind lapped where there is a crease from the overlapping row above it. Some companies consider debris under the shingle as "damage" while other's don't if the shingle could reseal and otherwise is not physically altered in some way.

Hail damage is much more subjective depending on the size of the hail. Generally, anything quarter size or smaller will not damage a roof. Age and condition of the existing roof can factor in though.

PA's for a Physical Damage? Well, of course do you what you think you need to do. Just understand, in order for them to get their cut without affecting your actual incurred physical damages, which is all the Policy provides payment for, they will often tend to "pad" their estimates with things that may not necessarily be covered and paid by your Insurance Company. This is not a jab at PA's. I have worked all over the country as a staff adjuster and as a 3rd Party "Independent". There are many reasonable PA's yet I have also seen some crazy arse bids turned in by PA's.

TL/DR - Try an Engineer. Your Company may pay for the Engineer fee and will not affect your payout you would have to pay to the PA.
