2011 tacoma trd offroad
200k miles. Time to replace suspension. Looking at bikstein 5100s. Kind of overwhelmed at all the sites. Anyone have any recommendations on where to buy from.
Would like to replace struts and coils in front and shocks in rear.
Not trying to bust the wallet on this as it will become a 2nd vehichle soon
Other recs are appreciated for other brands.

ALOT of stuff was backordered or straight up "out of stock with no anticipated date" when I was looking at Ford parts. This was about a month ago but the Billsteins were a brand that did give a shipping date (it was just a few weeks out at the time). You can't go wrong with Billstiens on any brand truck and they aren't extremely expensive, but with suspension you can easily get into high price territory so while they may look expensive just know there are other brands double that.

I know. Looked at an icon setup. 3k. I'm not trying to blow that on a 2nd truck. I know I can get bilsteins for the same price as Toyota parts and with the 5100s I will at least be level. I will probably order straight from them. Old toyota more parts available than newer models it seems.

I've got 5100's and OME 886 coils. You won't need that much coil on front if you don't have a bumper/winch. Maybe an 884 spring (check the weight chart), this is with the shocks set at notch "zero". I bought mine either at Wheelers or Downsouth Motorsports.

Get OME 884 or 885s front shocks

Appreciate the advice from everyone. Running 265 75 16s. So I'm not trying to get full lift. Just upgrade on regular maintenance and thought it may ride a little better this route.

884s will only lift 0.5-1.0 inches or so but they ride great. If you pair 5100s with any springs that lift, run them (shocks) at stock height.
Also, I know not everyone is a fan of them, but I’m about to put airbags on my rear axle of my Taco. I have the old original shitty leaf pack (previous owner didn’t do the TSB upgrade) and bags should help the ride tremendously. They only cost like $350 (heh) and are simple to install.

yeh Icon and BDS were the "high price territory" I was referring to. They can get crazy expensive. All over the internet and people I know in life seem to have good things to say about billsteins. If I don't eventually do coil-overs I may put billsteins in the rear. However, for Toyota I'm not the person to ask about the quality of their stock suspension components. A yota baw may be able to tell you more on whether their stock suspension parts are just as good/possibly better than aftermarket for a similar or cheaper price. before I lifted my ford the stock f150 shocks were decent even with a level puck and 34s but I didn't have anything to compare it to at the time, id bet a level with Bilstein shocks would have made it glide much better.

Still is. I’m riding around on squeaky shocks in my Sierra until 6112s show up somewhere in stock.

WBear, I’m sure you’ve told me before but what bumper are you running?

So with 884s I would set the front struts on what setting? And are stock control arms gonna be an issue? Drivers side is only a few months old as I hit a deer in dec

top tip "asin" is the oem name brand for everything on toyotas but can be bought direct at much lower price then dealers charge
also i would replace the whole front end and wheel bearings with that many miles. look here you can find kits depending on how far you want to go with it LINK
detroit axle are high quality parts with 10yr warranty but there are china immitations so make sure it says 10yr warranty and its made and shipped to you in america
some idiots buy the china imitation crap and then try and claim detroit axle isnt good and dont last but thats only because they are idiots who bought the imitation crap

Yea I had bearing put in at 175k miles. No chinese parts on this truck. They cost a little more but worth it. I was looking at rock auto garbage and my mechanic steered me in the right direction.
Also just flushed all fluids l, new belt, new spark plugs, and fuel system cleaning.

I just did this exact thing Nado, put 5100s on my Tundra. You can reuse your OEM coils, unless you just wanted to buy new ones.
The problem I had was finding any struts, you can get the shocks anywhere but the struts were backordered everywhere online. One of the posters here, 24nights, helped me find a set and I am in forever in his debt. You might look him up if you are within driving range of Shreveport.
