Im not looking for this to be a target rifle so im not looking at the Quarterstaves or Tactical Solutions barrels.

Shoild i just pay a smith to thread my barrel?

Or are any of these a good choice with today's 20% off ebay?

do you have a bull barrel now? Just be aware that a bull barrel is very heavy. And you will need a new stock if you don't already have one.

no i do not. just the standard stainless non threaded.

Thanks for the reminder. Now that you said it i do remember seeing a mod to where you needded to grind out the existing stock if you wanted the bull barrel.

Yep, a Hogue overmold stock is around $80.

If I were you I may be tempted to get the current one threaded.

I've used JPGrips several times with no issue.

Also he can put the SiCo o-ring engagement on the barrel if you have a Sparrow or Spectre.

The second barrel linked is for a takedown. So if you dobt have a takedown model it won't work.

Adco does barrel threading for $75, but you still have to pay for shipping.

I sent my Ruger American Rimfire to these folks for threading (before they offered them as a factory option). Excellent work at a great price.

You'll need to figure out how much you want to spend on the project and work backwards from there. When I was looking to buy a suppressor for my 10/22 I first considered getting the current factory barrel threaded. The closest gunsmith was going to charge $75. Plus I'd spend two afternoons off delivering and picking up the barrel. I don't recall whether there was an extra charge for the thread protector or not. Some charge extra, some don't. In addition, I'd still have a factory barrel w/ many thousands of rounds through it. Since I wanted to upgrade the accuracy some, but didn't want to spend break the bank, I bought a new, factory contour, threaded barrel from Feddersen. My gun was going to be a squirrel hunting rifle so I didn't want to be carrying around the extra weight of a bull barrel. I didn't feel like paying the extra money to have it fluted to reduce weight. I payed more than I would've just having it threaded, but I've been happy.

I don't know whether they make a threaded barrel for the takedown model, but Green Mountainhas a good reputation for custom barrels that don't cost much. A GM barrel would probably still be an accuracy upgrade over your factory barrel.

I have a Green Mountain barrel sitting in the corner of my office doing nothing.

It was very accurate but it’s a .920 and it’s heavy.

Threading my stock barrel didn’t work out so well. When threaded concentric to the bore, the pencil barrel left very little shoulder behind the threads. This caused the suppressor to cant in the direction of the lowest shoulder. Baffle strikes would occur if fired.

YMMV

TacticalInc has factory threaded barrels for just over $100.
