The one I'm waiting on will be limited registration. Means you can't register the puppies unless the breeder gives you permission to do so, which is highly unlikely unless you breed them back with one of theirs.

This. Also one can't breed till after 2.5 years of age and will have to have a full check up, DNA check and have the hips checked too!

It is not to piss on the owners. It is to protect the breed.
It only takes one mismatch to propagate a debilitating gene or unwanted characteristic to MANY dogs.

My daughter bought a Great Dane. She paid very big bucks for the dog. Had to sign a contract. 2.5 years later after showing him and winning to grand champ, she was ready to breed him. Everything checked out good till the blood work came back stating that there was a chance he could pass on bad hips. The seller had to give her money back, but they wanted the dog back. NO way my daughter told them. She will not breed him. She is a vet after all. Oh, he is now 6 years old and doesn't have any health or hip problems.

Pay for the dog and get your papers. Make it very clear to the breeder that after you leave with the pup he has no say so on any issue involving the pup from that point forward.

Except for the fact that the Breeder determines the Registration for the puppy. They are the ones that check the box and mail the paperwork in. If they choose a limited registration, you cannot breed the dog and get it registered. The Breeder can amend the registration later (I think).

I think you have to get permission from the original breeder or some shite.

No way I'd buy a dog with that.

All responsible breeders follow this policy now. It is a sign they care about the animals and the bloodlines.

That's all well and good, but I'm not into that kind of thing.

As if spending hundreds of dollars on a puppy isn't a sign they care about the animal.

Ill be damned if I drop $800 on a dog and have to answer to someone if I want to breed it.

Yeah, people with money are always incredibly responsible.

Buy from a pet store or backyard breeder if that's what you choose. Just don't pretend you're getting a well-bred animal or behaving responsibly if you don't do all the things necessary to check out the health of both animals before breeding.

Do what you want. It's still America, after all. Just do so with your eyes open.

I've encountered, you have to pay more for the dog, some stipulate that they can never be registered etc etc. Long story short, it's bullshite.
99% of people won't pay more if they can't register it.

As for breeding, just do like many and breed it but use a friend's papers.
