I'm going through the process now and from my understanding, they'll only need a copy of my driver's license and vehicle registration or voter's registration card. No birth certificate needed.

I did mine in 2013 and they needed it. Maybe they changed it.

The application form on the website only shows birth certificate required for applicants under the age of 18.

Yep, makes sense. You also have to have a copy of both parents' driver's license. Not sure if that has always been a thing, but is now.

Follow up question - how do you get deer tags once you get your lifetime license? Do you call in to request?

Lifetime combo is still $500 and hunting/fishing seperate licenses are $300.
I got mine this year...just mailed the application, drivers license, voter registration and hunter safety card. Got my license a week later.

This, it's pretty much the exact same process as buying a license, except you don't pay anything and they give you everything. For example, if you used to go in and buy your big game license you would pay your fees and they'd just give you your deer tags. Now when you go in, you just say, I have a lifetime license, I need to get my tags. They give you deer/turkey/wma permits, etc. all on one long slip.
It's still only $500 for an adult combo license. I don't know what that guy is talking about $1500.
I just bought mine and my sons in October. I got mine with my license and vehicle registration and for my son I had a copy of my wife's license. They made copies of my license and his birth certificate. The only thing they kept was the copy I brought in of my wife's license. If you do it by mail, they will not return anything sent to them.

wait until you're 60 and the price goes down to $50. That's what I did.

Don't need to do a birth certificate. Just evidence of being a Louisiana Resident for the past couple of years. Driver's License and Vehicle Registration will get that done. At least it did for me unless the rules have change in the last 18 mos.

The only time you are needing a copy of your BC as an adult is if you are applying as a non-resident, disabled veteran.

What if you have a Lifetime license, and say, you move to Mississippi. Is the La. license still good?

Yeah, if you hunt and fish until you are at least 71.
The Senior License is $5/year and includes everything the lifetime does. So you would have to hunt at least 11 years for the senior lifetime to pay for itself.
If I buy a lifetime license right now, at 29, it pays for itself by the time I'm, oh 35 or 36.
