Level fishing rods

Just a little shout-out post for some new rods I recently picked up. A couple weeks ago I boat flipped a 4.5 pounder and snapped my kistler frog rod. I bought it second hand a while back so didn’t bother trying to warranty it.
A friend of mine suggested checking out level rods. I ordered 3 of their OGX series rods, a 7’2 medium, 7’2 extra heavy to replace my frog rod, and a 7’10 medium heavy. When they arrived, It was the medium, medium heavy, and a 7’2 medium heavy instead of the XH.
I reached out to their customer service and they got my 7’2 extra heavy shipped out immediately, and told me to just keep the 7’2 MH they accidentally sent.
I’m big on customer service, so I’ll definitely be buying more in the future. Just wanted to pass that along to the OB in case anyone is in the market for some new rods. They also give a 30% discount if you have a govX account.

does all star even make rods anymore
I don’t think so, thankfully I still have several, especially the WR1

Yeah, so far they seem to be good. I was throwing a ribbit frog on the 7’10 MH the past couple days. Boat flipped a 6, 5-6, and a few 4’s. They’re comfortable, and seem to be durable.

There is one rod for sale at Tackle Warehouse. It's blue in color and called Nano something. I have mostly Kistlers. But I watch Brian Latimer on YouTube and may give Level a try. I already have way too many rods.

One of the saddest days of my life was when my 6'6 All star rod cracked. Dad gave it to me with a Shimano(chromicha or curado?) When I was a kid. Wore out every fish imaginable on that setup for years.

Same here, but they’ve been pissing me off lately. Decided to splurge and custom build a rod from them. 7’1 helium, recoil guides, woven carbon handle. Came out to around $600 and waited a month for it. My second time taking it fishing, the carbon handle separated. Didn’t feel like sending it back, so I got a buddy of mine to repair it for me.
Then my kistler frog rod snapped. That was a couple days after I got every guide on that rod replaced because they kept breaking off.
So I decided to take my buddy’s recommendation and try out the level rods.

I have Curado reels on all of my AllStar rods, on my newer CastAway rods I have AbuGarcia Revo reels. Old stuff, but when properly cared for, cleaned & lubed, still good stuff…

Dude - thats highway robbery for that rod. Thats what would be pissing me off. I build rods and those helium blanks are nice but not the best in the business. Even without getting wholesale prices, i can build you those same components on a better blank for $400-$500.

Kistler charges $100 for the woven carbon handle
and $199 for a recoil guide train which includes fuji cc stainless sic tip. Thats absolutely insane. You can buy that whole guide train for under $75 and a carbon grip set for $30-40.
And those woven

So enough tip to throw weightless ribbits ?? That’s good to know.

I had been using the same flipping rod for a few years, with a tip that I glued on. It looked like crap, and it fished like crap with the mess of glue I put on it
I wanted a quality flipping rod to replace it. I built that rod and added it to my cart and deleted it about 5 times. Decided I wasn’t going to be happy if I didn’t get it lol
It’s nice. I like it. Apparently I overpaid, but I didn’t know any custom rod builders to do it cheaper.

I think they do but All Stars warranty is what screwed them. They would replace your rod no matter what If you broke it shutting the tailgate or on a fish it didn’t matter. Seems like a good thing but in reality people abuse that
Same thing happened to the old Columbia waterfowl jackets. No questions asked just return it and get a new one. Now they don’t even make them anymore
