A) If your not slips the slightest bit the friction will break braid like wet toilet paper on the hook set. I use double Palomar or uniknot style snell knot. Make sure to cinch your knot down as tight as possible to prevent slipping under a strain.
B) Braid doesn’t stretch at all. So when you swing for the fences on a hookset you put a lot of strain on the line. IMO 30lbs is light for braid if you’re bass fishing I’d move up to 50 and/or back off on the drag some to take the initial shock of the hookset. Some people use a mono or flouro leader to absorb the shock.
